The birth of your baby is one of the most exciting experiences of your life. The New Beginnings unit of Heartland Regional Medical Center makes this experience a true joy.

For starters, the combined labor/delivery/ recovery/post-partum (LDRP) rooms at New Beginnings offer a beautiful and functional setting for the birth of your child. The maternity area includes 15 LDRP rooms. These rooms allow you to go through Labor, Delivery, Recovery and Post-Partum care in the comfort and convenience of one spacious room. The staff of  predominately registered nurses is Neonatal Resuscitation certified, holding high levels of experience and expertise in maternity care.

Monitor and security systems ensure that you and your child receive the benefits of the best and newest technologies.

Maternity provides services for normal and high risk pregnancies. All deliveries are performed by medical doctors (MDs), and a physician is on call 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

The Level II Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) provides a high level of care for babies who have complications at the beginning of life. Arrangements are made with Kansas City area hospitals that have a Level III NICU for babies who require more intensive care.

For mothers with special needs, the maternity team provides:

• Antepartum testing
• Post Partum Tubal Ligations
• Cesarean Sections
• D&C

These surgical procedures are provided within the Maternity unit.
